Acupuncture is a traditional all-natural Chinese medicine practice sweeping the Western nations. It consists of the painless insertion of tiny needles into acupuncture points in the body that correspond with specific areas of the body. It is extremely important to find a highly knowledgeable practitioner with extensive training in the science of acupuncture, and in some cases in the specific area you are desire treatment for. I used acupuncture for six months for treatment of anxiety, depression, chronic pain, and regulation of reproductive health. I found acupuncture to be a huge success in treating ailments that were unsuccessfully treated through mainstream Western medicine. I felt better than I had ever felt in my life.
The only reason that I discontinued the sessions was due to the financial burden. Though the treatment programs are highly effective, they are rarely covered on insurance and are very expensive. Had I been able to continue acupuncture, I know that the financial burden carried by my insurance carrier for medication and doctor bills would be significantly diminished. In addition to the specific ailments I was being treated for, I found an excellent fringe benefit. As a teacher, I am regularly exposed to various germs and illnesses. Prior to receiving acupuncture treatments, I became ill, on average, every six to eight weeks with colds or viruses. In spite of the fact that I have not received treatment in over two years, my immunity boost has sustained. I am rarely ill, even when a cold or virus passes through the other members of my household. Acupuncture is used to treat virtually any ailment including, chronic illness/pain, infertility, psychological disorders, obesity, and even the secession of addictions. I highly recommend and encourage you to research the benefits of acupuncture and consider trying for yourself.
Most of us assume that acupuncture is something that is only done to help injuries heal or to improve the connection between mind and body. We’d never even think about going to an acupuncturist for assistance with a phobia. Most of us would think only a psychiatrist would be able to help with overcoming phobias, but research indicates that acupuncture could be an important factor when you want to face what frightens you.
Unlike straight up fear which is usually a direct reaction to an immediate situation, phobias are more of a perceived threat, though if the phobia is severe enough, it could morph into genuine fear when you’re confronted with a specific trigger. The origin of this fear gets it start in many different part of the brain which than trigger a physical response in your body.
Individuals who have extensively studied acupuncture know that there are certain points on the body that stimulate a specific response in your brain. The endorphins released by the acupuncture work on the brain like drugs, creating a completely natural high. The process is so effective that it has been used to help people recover from a traumatic brain injury and to help them overcome addictions. Many people have even used it to help them get over life long, irrational phobias.
If you decide that acupuncture is a good way to help you overcome a lifelong phobia, you need to choose your acupuncturist with care. Don’t settle for anyone who doesn’t have a great deal of experience with your specific issue. Before you allow them to work on you, double check both their credentials and their references.
As a fourth year medical school student there are many things that I still do not know. I know how to handle major issues and I feel very comfortable with working in a hospital. But I am still a young student that needs to be trained and sculpted by the masters. Because of this I am always taking every opportunity I have to learn something new. This summer I am traveling to Beijing, China to learn about Chinese medicine. I am not going to practice medicine full time in China but I am interested in learning how they handle the issues they do and some of the old ways that they have learned to use medication. There is no denying the simple fact that the Chinese medicine from hundreds of years ago is still used in a large part of the country. So in order to better understand how Chinese medicine works, I am going to intern there for a few months.
I am looking forward to the experience. I really feel that I will be given a leg up on the competition. Just in case you didn’t think there was a competition allow me to explain what I mean. Medical school is something that mirrors Capitol Hill. Politicians are cutthroat and so are doctors. We always want to be right and we all want to be the one that makes a major discovery. Part of getting a leg up on the competition is making sure you are able to land a great job in a hospital that has worldwide recognition. That is why I am going to Johns Hopkins. However before I get there I am going to master Chinese medicine and I will blow the socks off the competition.
If you have developed Type 2 diabetes, you already know that you are at risk for diabetic retinopathy. A recent study predicted that in the next 15 years, more than 191 million people in the world will have lost their vision as a direct result of diabetic retinopathy. If you develop this particular complication, there is a very good chance you will lose your vision. Diabetic retinopathy is something that often strikes without warning, though some people do experience a blurring of vision before diagnosis. What you might not know is that the key to saving your vision could be Chinese medicine.
One of the herbs that experts in Chinese medicine have been using for thousands of years is red sage.
Medical experts who explore ways that Chinese medicine can be used in conjunction with contemporary medical practices have noticed that the red sage does and excellent job helping with both blood vessel and heart disease. Hey have also noticed that the individuals with type 2 diabetes who take a regular dose of red sage are less likely to develop the early symptoms of diabetic retinopathy.
The human eye has an extraordinary number of teeny-tiny blood vessels running through it, and each of these blood vessels is very sensitive to the ebb and flow of blood sugar, something individuals with Type 2 diabetes are always struggling to control. It’s believed that the red sage either prevents the damage low blood sugar does the retinal blood vessels or it helps repair the damage before it has a chance to impact the individuals vision.
The key is to start using red sage before any signs of diabetic retinopathy, since once the disease starts to manifest nothing, including red sage, can reverse the damage.
Have you ever watched the show called Naked and Afraid? It is a really exciting show that attempts to show the darker side of survival. So many people have the idea that they would be able to survive no matter what. So many people have the thought that they are the exception to the rule. So the Discovery channel has created a show where the participants are taken to a very remote location, they are stripped of their belongings and their clothing, and then they are left alone. The only have one person to rely on other than themselves and they have to live for 21 days. It is a really exciting premise and I have to admit that I have been watching the show for a few years now. The things I love the most about the show are all the survival tools used on “Naked and Afraid”.
I would have never thought that survival tools used on “Naked and Afraid” would actually be tools that I could use for myself. When you are watching television you seem to have the idea that the tools they use are only for them. But other people can purchase the tools they are using as well. The thing I learned the other night while watching the show is that Chinese medicine is a wonderful thing. They were staying beside a river and a younger woman was having severe back pain. So here partner decided that he would try and use some techniques from Chinese medicine. The idea was to use massage therapy but it all came from China. Who would have thought that Chinese medicine would be featured so prominently on a show like this?
This show has a few issues in my mind as well. I am starting to have the opinion that the teams they place together are told to argue and bicker. I have found a few teams that get along well but the majority of them argue and fight like cats and dogs. I hate this. But apparently it makes for good theater and thus the cameras and the audience eats it up. Survival tools used on “Naked and Afraid” are often the topic of many discussions. While some will be happy about a firestarter others will be happy about a frying pan. Still other people are more interested in having a great knife or even a bow. I am not sure the best tools to have but I have witnessed lot of tool use on this show. I can say this, survival tools used on “Naked and Afraid” are some of the basic tools that we use everyday and they really allow us to see what you have to do in order to live in the wild for 3 weeks or more.
While every show is different and they will not all have spots were Chinese medicine is used, there have been a few where this has occurred. I am thankful that I had the chance to see these episodes. While I am still learning about the survival tools used on “Naked and Afraid”, I am hoping to become a bit more skilled and a bit more knowledgeable so that I can be a part of this show.
It has taken me many years to realize that although I really enjoy learning and practicing Chinese medicine, not everyone shares my thoughts on the matter. This is especially true of my mother. She has told me time and time again that I am wasting my time, energy and money on this silly type of medicine and that I should just forget it and go to a regular doctor like everyone else. Well, I know that I am doing something completely different from what she has done her whole life but I like being the odd one out on this one.
Thankfully the rest of my family is not as critical of my choices as my mother. That is not to say that they believe me when I give them suggestions on which Chinese treatments to try when western medicine isn’t working. They definitely do not ask my advice, but they listen to what I have to say and don’t put it down quite like she does. As a matter of fact I think I might have convinced one of my sisters to try it for a problem she has been having.
I know that this does not sound like progress, but believe me, it really is. I don’t know if my mother would like someone else in the family to start practicing Chinese medicine, but I do know that if anyone can get her to come around, it is definitely my sister. She is the favorite child after all and usually she does just what our mother tells her. I just hope that my mom listens to her on this one and doesn’t go nuts when she finds out that I have passed on a few of my Chinese medicine ideas to my sister.
Alternative medicine is not new but it is making a huge comeback. Many people are starting to realize that there are numerous ways and methods for treating illnesses and sickness. The medical monopoly in this country has tried to teach us that we need more pills and more drugs in order to feel better but the reality is much different. We don’t need more drugs. We need more alternatives. And that is exactly what I have been doing. I suffer with asthma and that simply means that I have a hard time breathing from time to time. Some days are better than others but overall I have difficulty. So I decided that was going to use my V2 cigs pro series with peppermint oil. I have learned that peppermint oil is a great alternative medicine for people that have respiratory issues. I have ben using it for 7 months now and I must say that my breathing has never been better. Here are some things you need to know.
First, my V2 cigs pro series is a great vaporizer that has really changed my life. I would have never thought it possible but it really has. If you don’t have one then I would suggest that you get one as soon as you can. Using essential oils is a great way to help your body. There are literally hundreds of different oils and they all offer different benefits. Take the time to study alternative medicine and you will quickly learn that essential oils are the go to product for most home remedies. As for me, the V2 cigs pro series has not only opened my eyes but my lungs as well. Peppermint oil is a real thing. It comes from the peppermint leaf and it is very potent. A few drops in the vaporizer and the whole room smells of peppermint candy. Not only does it smell good but also it opens my lungs. If you have lung issues then please try it.
Alternative medicine is a great thing and I wish more people would try to learn more about it. Not only has this helped my breathing but there are other things that I have used my V2 cigs pro series for. I have also used orange oil, and even lavender oil. The lavender is good for sleeping well and the orange is a great thing for fighting colds and flu. The V2 cigs pro series is very versatile and it will allow you to use any essential oil you have.
So the real question is why are you buying into the medical drama and why are you not trying alternative medicines? What are you waiting for? Make the switch today and your life will change forever.
There are so many health conditions that can be treated with acupuncture that it is hard to discuss just a few. Acupuncture is great Chinese medicine. I am a firm believer in Acupuncture!
Acupuncture stimulates the release of natural opiates which can relieve pain, enhance your mood, and reduce stress. This may sound too good to be true and sort of wacky but I am here to tell you it really works. I have tried acupuncture in my past due to irritable bowel syndrome. Nothing I was taking over the counter was helping so I decided to give acupuncture a try. I have to tell you that acupuncture gave me those most wonderfully relaxing comfortable numb feeling I have ever experienced. It is really hard to describe unless you actually try it for yourself. You will likely fall into a deep sleep once all the needles are placed on your body. The needle part scares most people off from acupuncture but believe me, they do not hurt, rather they give you a wonderfully comfortable feeling you cannot get any other way unless you are asleep. I would just say to you, if you have any medical problem that can be helped by acupuncture, which most can, give it a try. You will be glad you did.
The best part of acupuncture is that it works without having to take prescription drugs or even over the counter drugs. I am one that doesn’t like to take meds, so this works perfect for me. I need to find an acupuncturist in my new area and get started back with it. It really does work! Try it for yourself.
I have recently heard about a company called DoTerra Essential Oils that I really want to get involved in. I have been looking for ways to treat illnesses in my family with things besides over the counter medications. I use to be the type that wouldn’t even take an aspirin when I had a headache because I don’t like to take medications unless I absolutely have to. I do take medications if I have to but most of the times I like to try an alternative approach first. I feel that alternative medications are a better alternative to traditional medications because they typically don’t have as many side effects. Essential oils are a great alternative to traditional medications because they are pure and effective. They also don’t have to be taken in large doses in order to work. Most of the time essential oils can be taken one or two drops at a time and the effects last a very long time. I once had an essential oils party where a lady came out to show me how to use the oils. I happened to have a really bad sinus headache that night and had not been able to shake it for weeks on end. The lady showed me that I could put one drop of peppermint oil and one drop of eucalyptus oil in a little bit of water and drink it. I am not joking when I say that my headache went away within a few minutes and I didn’t have another one for at least two months! I was amazed! I cannot wait to purchase DoTerra Essential Oils for me and my family.
The last few years of my life I have been dealing with almost unbearable back and leg pain. I have gone to many different doctors. Sometimes they will give me recommendations for exercises that I can do to help relieve the pain, but most of the time, they all just want to write me a prescription for pain medicine and send me on my way. This is not how I want to live my life and I am considering trying something new to help me deal with my medical issue with the use of medication.
My first thought is to make an appointment with a Chiropractor to see if they can help with my back pain. It might seem obvious to some that one should seek help from a chiropractor when the issue is in your back, but I don’t know anyone who has been to a chiropractor and I have no idea where to even look. I really hope that this will be the answer I am looking for but if it isn’t I have a few other ideas that might be options as well.
Acupuncture is not something that I would have ever thought to try before I started experiencing so much pain in my back. But because I am very open to any treatment that doesn’t involve medication I think I would give it a try if chiropractic doesn’t work. I have also thought about using herbs as homeopathic pain remedies. We have a local nutrition store that sells these kinds of products and I have thought about trying them, but I am a little apprehensive. Well at least I have a plan, so now all I have to do is go out and try one or all of these alternative medicines.
